Oily skin makeup - only powder ok for special occasions??

My skin is very oily. I mean, I could sell the oil by gallons. And moisturizer or liquid makeups are useless for me. I use Neutragena powder makeup for daily use, just on the bare skin with, may be a concealer. It looks alright to run to the grocery store. It doesn't last too long but I like how it gives a fresh look at least for a short time. But can I wear ONLY that, say, to work, or for any special occasions?

Any moisturizer or foundation is really bad for my skin - it breaks out immediately. I have lots of marks on my face from these break outs and dont konw how to get rid of them. I use Neutrogena clean and clear cleanser and like it a lot. Is that enough though??

Can anybody suggest anything???

I saw a makeup by Almay that has salicylic acid in it. Is that a good idea? I was scared it might overdry the skin.

Thanks in advance :)

Every morning and night cleanse your face with Garnier Face Scrub and then rinse clean. Then get a small bowl of warm water and fill up 1/3 of the way. Put 1 teaspoon of cooking salt in the water and mix it until it disolves. Then wash your face with the salty water, but don't wash it off. Use a hair drier to dry your face -DON'T wipe it. This will help dehydrate your skin and make it much less oily. You should also purchase a "Shine Control" make-up which you can use powder over it.

My sister does this and it seems to work for her. You can get prescription cream that makes your skin less oily, but this is more natural.

Good luck!

And its worth trying Almay. If it does over-dry your skin, just stop using it! :D

Mary Kay has a product called oil Mattifier. You put it on first and it absorbs the excess oil on your skin. Use it with the oil blotting tissues and I don't think you will have as many problems

Reply:May I suggest something? If your skin is so oily, Iraq is jealous, then you should rub rubbing alcohol on your face with a cotton ball prior to leaving the house and DO NOT WEAR MAKEUP! This makes your pores suffocate! If you must wear makeup, try the Bare Minerals collection or similar. But remember to always wash your face in the shower. Try Dove Pro-Age line. Even though you are probably younger then me, its very gentle and helps your skin.

also for acne prone skin try proactive to clear up your skin so then you won't even need to cover your skin up
Reply:First of all, you need to use a product line/skin care regimen that is going to help get your oiliness under control. Secondly, make up applied to bare skin is a definite 'no no'.

You need to use a make up line that is mostly water based. I don't believe you'll find that or a good match for your skin in the drug store. I too have oily skin and use Aularale Cosmetics (aularale.com/7002) Moisture Balancing Skin Care which includes a deep cleansing masque which you should use 2-3 times a week. Their make up (water based) and translucent powder gives me a fresh look all day.
